STONEHENGE

English Heritage

One of the best known heritage sites anywhere, always a pleasure to visit, especially on such a glorious day.

Access has been greatly changed since my previous visit many years ago, not only has the visitor centre and tunnel under the road from the centre to the stones gone, but the road has also gone. The new visitor centre was opened in 2012 and is 1.5 kilometres from the stones, giving the option of taking the shuttle bus or walking and taking in the whole Stonehenge landscape and getting a first view of the stones from above. Definitely worth the walk...
