Greylag, Slimbridge WWT: 14th February 2019

GREYLAG

Slimbridge WWT: 14th February 2019

Very familiar geese to many, Greylags are resident throughout the year and can be seen almost anyway in England, though rare in the South West, Devon and Cornwall. They are found on most lakes and rivers and many parks,

They feed mainly by grazing on grasses and marsh vegetation eating all kinds of roots, leaves and shoots, and occasionally take small aquatic animals.

Greylags live in loose colonies so are normally seen in quite large groups in the fields or by the lakeside
