Mottisfont
National Trust
Mottisfont, near Romsey was the home of the art patron Maud Russell and boasts a fine collection of paintings. The house was originally built as an Augustinian Priory and later converted into a home.
For my tastes, the house itself is not particularly inspiring or welcoming, but the grounds are magnificent, especially the rose garden and walk along the River Test along the border of the land. The river here is unbelievably clear and, at least on this visit, was alive with fish and dragon flies.
Very nice pictures
