Sandwich Tern on Brownsea Island 1st June 2018

Sandwich Terns on Brownsea Island in Poole Harbour

The lagoon at the eastern end of Brownsea Island is a Nature Reserve jointly run by the National Trust and Dorset Wildlife Trust.

It is an important shelter, especially in winter for a variety of wildfowl and geese, and in the summer, for the returning Sandwich Terns who return to their island in the lagoon to breed and rear their young before dispersing again.
