Great Central Preserved Railway
The GCR runs from Loughborough via Quorn and Rothley to Leicester North (Birstall) and is the only preserved line with double track running.
THe GCR is one of the major heritage steam lines in the country and hosts a wide range of locomotives as well as participating in loans and guest appearances of locomotives from other railways.
The railway has been running as a Heritage Steam line since 1971, and over the weekend of August 11th/12th had a gala weekend commemorating the 50th anniversary of the last regular steam service. Typically of the GCR however, 2 of the 6 locomotives running were diesels...
