Twycross Zoo: 20th August 2018

Twycross Zoo

Monday 20th August

Another couple of hours at the zoo... being a member I get free admission all year and it is so easy to pop in for a couple of hours, look at parts of the zoo and spend time in the café with a brew watching the Snow Leopards... so on Monday, after a few grey days the sun finally showed itself so I popped along for a couple of hours to do just that....

Here are some of the results of the visit... and for the very first time it includes a shot of the Corn Snake!!!... it normally is in hiding behind it's rocks

Great Central Railway: 12th August 2018

Great Central Preserved Railway

The GCR runs from Loughborough via Quorn and Rothley to Leicester North (Birstall) and is the only preserved line with double track running.

THe GCR is one of the major heritage steam lines in the country and hosts a wide range of locomotives as well as participating in loans and guest appearances of locomotives from other railways.

The railway has been running as a Heritage Steam line since 1971, and over the weekend of August 11th/12th had a gala weekend commemorating the 50th anniversary of the last regular steam service. Typically of the GCR however, 2 of the 6 locomotives running were diesels...
