Cormorant: 21st October 2018

CORMORANT

Often thought of as a seabird, the Cormorant is a regular site on many inland lakes and reserves, not least Brandon Marsh where there is a healthy population on the main lake.

The birds are frequently seen sitting and "drying" out on the frames in the lake or on the banks. At other times they fly or swim around following the fish
and can often be seen catching and swallowing a fish that looks simply too big for them to swallow

The last sequence of images here show a Cormorant dealing with a pretty substantial Perch
