A couple of years ago a Great White Egret was a fairly rare siting, but has become more frequent in that time, and now on a trip to Rutland Water you would be unlucky not to see a host of them.

Rutland Water is one of those reserves that is remarkably variable... the previous week I managed nothing but 3 pictures of a spider... this visit I had a couple of Muntjac running in the first field on the path... the first hide was almost blank, but the second hide I sat in was packed with egret, Great White Egret, Heron, Cormorant and Grebes... very little to be seen elsewhere though. So we have the wildlife, and some landscapes in this page
